Lets Go Fly a Kite

One of our favorite subjects in our homeschooling this year is science. It’s the first time I’ve given myself license to go without a curriculum and it’s been so much fun. Lately, we’ve been talking a lot about energy, motion, and forces so kites are very on topic. While we planned and put together our kites we talked about wind, lift, weight, stabilization, and other things. We have yet to really get them up high but the kids had a blast running around the yard with them.

We used string, dowel rods, trash bags, and ribbons. The kids used markers to decorate the trash bags.

The cat loved hunting the kites too…

It was super easy and fun to make. Here’s a link to the instructions we used if I’ve got you interested.
