My Room

I am thrilled to announce that I am DONE painting our house. Whew. This project started 2 1/2 years ago when we moved into the house and we slowly ticked off room after room. But now it’s done. Most of it ended up being white in the end but I love the minimalist, modern, clean look. So here’s our master bedroom.

My husband designed and made our platform bed and it remains on the list to be painted or finished somehow. I love the asymmetrical high ceilings in our room.

The canvas and the frame are white art in a white room at the moment (I like the statement of it) but in reality they are projects not gotten to yet.

The toys just walked in while I was taking pictures. No way. This house is for real.

A while ago I posted that I wanted to make better window coverings for our house. The curtains in the middle are from Ikea though I scored them from craigslist and I used a tutorial I found online to convert my old mini-blinds into roman shades. The shades I made are on the side windows. The mini-blinds had bent slats from cats and kids and were just ugly. I used painter’s dropcloth canvas that I got from Walmart for $10 and I love the nubby natural relaxed feel of this fabric!

Someone else got caught enjoying the quiet cleanness of my room. She’s got her sewing basket and she’s sewing fabric strips into a rose for her little sister’s birthday.

Our bathroom is also DONE. Which is so lovely! I painted the cabinets and walls and we installed new lights, faucets, and towel racks et. al. We’re so happy to be rid of almost all the brass in the house.
