Knit hat and scarf

My time has been mostly taken lately by sick kids and keeping my house spotless for showings. It’s been a couple weeks now of cleaning up after them and holding them and mostly not sleeping as they go through a gauntlet of seemingly every type of virus. So I am going to post a project that was done long ago but I never showed on my blog. If you are as fast and motivated at your knitting as I am, now might be the time to start knitting this set now if you want to have it by fall. I know it’s Spring now and our cold weather is probably gone for good but still I am showing you my scarf and hat set.

The hat pattern is from here and has a fun “braid” around the edge. Doing color changes with a graph was a new fun thing to try and I like how it came out. I didn’t quite work the graph as it was shown or the hat would have been much too long! So, what I did was work the graph up to row 32, then move my stitch markers and begin working the chart from row 53 on. So in essence, I did not do row 33-52.

The scarf was made with a technique more than a pattern. It looks the same on both sides and I love the stripes. I was thrilled that it goes with the “braid” on my hat as well. It is worked with a simple k1, p1 stitch with slipped stitches at the sides. The two colors carry well in this method and I really love my thick warm striped scarf… now that it’s done. I still need to work on that patience while knitting.

And here is some comedic relief that I much needed after all that sickness and cleaning. May we all sleep tonight. 🙂
