There once was a lady that brought her crochet everywhere. She stabbed at it with her crochet hook dramatically, joyfully and the yarn zipped along and eventually one thing or another popped out. She said never wrote down what she did and never did the same thing again. I was totally inspired by her joyful crocheting of things flat, rounded, and for different purposes and different people. Her process looked so different than my meticulous one with a tight rein on my consistent tension always stopping to document what I did and analyze how to size up or down correctly, keeping the totals in mind, multiplying dutifully. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it all thoroughly but for sure am not as freeform as this wonderful friend was, probably still is, though I’ve lost contact with her. I still think of her sometime and am inspired to loosen up and have fun and enjoy more thoroughly creative stitching just to see where it gets me to. This washcloth pattern felt like that, just inventing row to row, pure creative flow.
I love having a practical item be pleasant to look at and to hold. It makes scrubbing down the kitchen counters, tables, or dishes, that much more fun. With no further ado (I’ve run out of things to say) here’s the free pattern for my Granny Square design washcloth. Yup, as creative as I got, I also still wrote it all down. Someday I may have to make a video on this one due to my spontaneity maybe being a bit hard to follow in black and white, but you tell me please. Let me know in the comments if this one is easy enough to follow along to. I love getting feedback and hearing from the people that use my patterns!
